The room Hallow lived in was deserted. The door was closed, as always, blocking anyone but Hallow himself from entering. That was one of the advantages of being a shape-shifting spirit; you could walk through walls. The bed that the shadow spirit slept on was empty, seeming unruffled. This was because Hallow never touched it; instead, he lay inches above the surface. He walked that way too, inches above the surface of the ground. He had no need to walk on the ground. He could just as easily float, but wait fun was that? The window that overlooked the cloud that held the tower was open as always, for quick escapes; the curtains floated softly in the breeze.
Suddenly, a massive cougar walked through the door, its huge black paws never once touching the wood floor. It walked farther into the room until it was completely in it, its massive body fully through the door. The cougar's opal eyes gave him away as being Hallow. The spirit looked back at the door, knowing it would not let any other spirit walk through it like Hallow himself did. The other ones would have to open it but pushing a paw, hoof, or beak against it. Hallow's black head moved slowly around the room, making sure nothing was out of place. He hated it when a spirt-like Akin- got in without his permission. However, when he saw nothing was out of place, he shifted into his cloud and settled 'onto' the bed. The opal orbs closed in thought.
He was thinking of the spirits. He was remembering how he had met each of them, seperatly. It had been many years ago, before Autumn Scar had been Autumn Scar, when he first sensed the presense of a powerful wolf. Hallow had assumed, of course, that he was just passing through, but when the wolf found a place to live, Hallow visited him. He was not warmly welcome. The wolf was terribly agressive and attacked Hallow almost at once. Of course, that was a foolish idea. But we wont go into details of that fight. Kain soon respected and even liked the spirit of Autumn Scar, who he had heard much about. At this thought, Hallow smirked inwardly, not having a face at the moment.
He pulled himself out of his thoughts and opened his pearly eyes again. They set like to jewels lost in a black abyss, but always side by side. Hallow put all his thoughts aside and took on his cougar form, his favourite of all, besides his cloud. He then curled up on the bed-or rather, above it-and laid his head on his massive paws, tail curling along side of him. When in cougar form, he was over eight feet long, and over four feet tall. His black, gassy body seemed solid, but was not. It helped sometimes, but sometimes he hated not being alive. He sighed softly. The others had been alive once, a long time ago. But he could not linger on those thoughts. It pained him to do so. So he rested, curling into a tighter ball and dozing.

A spark came quite randomly out of nowhere and lit an autumn-colored leaf on fire upon the stone balcony leading into the temple. The flame consumed the leaf quickly and in a matter of seconds transformed it into a small pile of ash which was soon after tossed gracefully into the air by a sudden gust of wind. Kain had no reason to be at his assigned land today. There wasn't a king yet to take orders from so why should he bother being somewhere he'd rather not be?
Kain let out a furiously annoyed sigh as a bird in the tree above him chirped incessantly. He was known for his short temper. Twitching an eyelid, Kain produced another spark of fire upon the barren stone balcony and tossed the flame around with what seemed to be his mind for a matter of minutes, it's flame getting larger and more intense as his anger and annoyance grew.
Soon Kain stood from his lying position on the stone which had been warmed to a comfortable temperature by the sun and emitted a low and furious growl without looking anywhere near the bird in the tree. Moments later, Kain heard the faint flapping of wings and the sound of rustling leaves. The bird had fled in fear of him. Kain laughed to himself softly before looking to the door of the temple.
The large wolven spirit then trodded boredly into the center area of the temple. It was very silent and felt almost like something had died just minutes before he arrived. That was the usual feel to the temple, however... at least when the powerful Hallow was in deep thought. This wasn't the first time Kain had walked in to find none other than Hallow resting in his private room. The wolf spirit made the decision to visit with his friend in his room.
Kain turned in the direction of Hallow's room which was blocked off, and always had been, by a large boulder-like rock. Kain paced up to the door and without hesitation called to Hallow who without-a-doubt must have sensed he was there already due to his loud growling earlier. "It's me." Kain's voice was low and seemed to echo through the nearly empty temple. Kain waited patiently and let his thoughts drift for a moment as he looked up at the temple's ceiling which was also solid rock.

A low sigh slipped from the cougar. He had been dozing for about twenty minutes, and had been woken by Kain. He was clearly outside of the temple, but with a very acute sense of hearing, Hallow could hear him well. Amused somewhat, the cougar dropped his head back onto his paws and took a deep breath then let it gush out. He hated that he didnt even need the air that living creatures so badly needed. Hallow hated being selfish, but he would give almost anything to live for a week or so. He wanted to feel the sod under his paws, the wind murmuring softly against his fur. He wanted to be able to eat, to be able to be beaten.
Suddenly, the cougar form was gone; Hallow shifted into a small fox, like Kire, and rolled onto his back, staring at the canopy over his bed. The bushy black tail waved, flicking side to side carefully. Hallow was amused by this for a few moments before rolling over again and curling into a tiny ball. It was very amusing, a powerful spirit like Hallow curling into a tiny ball like that. But, desperate times called for desperate measures. Not that the fox was desperate. Oh well.
'Its me.'
The low voice startled Hallow, who had not been expecting Kain to come over to his room at the top of the tower. Plus, Hallow had been absorbed in his own thoughts. But now that Hallow had heard the wolf speak, he sat up, shifting silently into his cougar form them laying down. He let his front paws hang out in front of him, off of the bed, crissed. He sat sphinx like almost. His opal eyes stared at the door as though he could see stright though it. He spoke in his mind and the thought resonated through him. Enter, my friend.

With Hallow's blessing, Kain placed his right front paw upon the rock door of Hallow's room, pressing forward a bit. With a spark of light, the door eased itself open, making a sound that echoed throughout the temple. As soon as there was enough room to walk through easily, Kain stepped in, his large paws pressing against the floor. Hallow's bedroom floor rarely ever got walked on so Kain felt somewhat privileged to be the spirit besides Hallow himself that had entered this room more than any other.
Kain came to discuss the situation with the lack of high-ranking score horses. It was just stupid that he was assigned to a herd and ordered to obey a king that wasn't even there. If a brute didn't show himself as wanting the job, Kain would go out looking for one if he had to. Although, it was somewhat nice to not have to do anything. The only problem Kain really had was that he loved war and the fact that he could watch and do some killing. It had been ages since Kain had disintegrated a horse and he was just itching to burn every living thing in Palame Ravine. Kain's eye twitched a bit at the thought of it.
Kain began his discussion after lightly clearing his throat and seating himself upon Hallow's bedroom floor. "Now, Hallow.. I know you're very reasonable and I also know that you know me quite well. The thing is, there's no King yet for me to take orders from in Palame. Hell, there isn't even a herd." Kain closed his dark sapphire voids for a moment, gathering his thoughts. "What I'm getting at here, Hallow, is that I've been just itching to kill again. You know how long it's been. I'm starting to loose my already short temper with every little annoyance. It's frustrating, really."
Kain, his eyes still closed, began massaging his forehead with his left front paw. Opening his eyes and bringing his left paw to it's upright position next to his right, he continued. "I don't know what to do, really. I only take killing orders from the Score King. I vowed to it when I became a spirit." Kain quoted himself with an almost sarcastic tone. "'Yes, yes, Hallow. I promise to never kill a living being without order from the King and Leader of the Score Alliance.'" Kain snorted, liquid mucous spraying from his nostrils. "I'll go looking for a king if I have to, Hallow. It's just been too damn long."
Kain sighed deeply and finished his discussion with, "Alright, my good friend. You've heard what I have to say. What are your thoughts?" Kain looked straight into the cougar-spirit's pearly eyes and waited for his reply anxiously. If Kain was permitted to look for a King... or at least look around for someone who he considers to be 'worthy'.. Well, it would juts make the demonic wolf's week. Just make his week. Kain laughed inside at this thought, showing nothing of the sort in his face. ooc: hehe.. muse. xDD

Hallow's ebonite face contorted slightly, showing he was smiling a bit. He could tell his old friend was angry over something, and Hallow guessed it was over the fact that Kain had no king. The spirit felt the same annoyance, at the fact that there were no high-ranking horses. There weren't even any herds, at all. There were plently of horses, but so far none had been willing to grab the highest positions in the land. Hallow closed his eyes for a moment, envisioning Autumn Scar returned to its former glory, with all the lands filled with horses. Then the opals reappeared in a jet black face, troubled.
'"Now, Hallow.. I know you're very reasonable and I also know that you know me quite well. The thing is, there's no King yet for me to take orders from in Palame. Hell, there isn't even a herd. What I'm getting at here, Hallow, is that I've been just itching to kill again. You know how long it's been. I'm starting to loose my already short temper with every little annoyance. It's frustrating, really."'
Hallow nodded, but did not speak. He'd let his friend finish before he spoke, as always. His opal voids stared into the younger spirit's ones, deep and thoughtful. Soon, the cougar laid his head down onto his huge paws, contiuing to stare at his friend.
'I don't know what to do, really. I only take killing orders from the Score King. I vowed to it when I became a spirit. Yes, yes, Hallow. I promise to never kill a living being without order from the King and Leader of the Score Alliance. I'll go looking for a king if I have to, Hallow. It's just been too damn long. Alright, my good friend. You've heard what I have to say. What are your thoughts?"'
The puma sat up, looking deep in thought..sorta. His face was blurred to show this. I understand how you feel, Kain. Hallow spoke carefully. The long body slid from the bed to the floor, where he sat down to look at the wolf. Because I feel the same way. We need a King, for both alliances. Hallow rose again and walked over to the window, placing his front paws on it and looking out.
He shifted into a wolf as well then walked over to Kain again. You can go ahead and try and find a King; but wait a few more days. You never know who may show up. The black wolf tilted his head then laid down, motioning for Kain to do the same.

Kain was pleased at Hallow's reply and bowed his head slightly in thanks, hiding a tiny smirk that formed on his wicked maw. The demonic wolven spirit stood upright once more, his dark and mischievous voids less tense then they looked earlier. He spoke again to his shape-shifting friend with a tone of approval, not that he had to approve anything, and appreciativeness. "Thank you, Hallow. I'll wait a few days. You're right, you know. You never know when a horse may just come out of nothingness to take position as King. I think we've seen it before, actually." An unhidden smirk flashed across Kain's symetrical face.
Kain's thoughts shot back into the distant past when therre was a situation such as this when there ws no Score King. Back then, though, Kings were very very powerful. Maybe more powerful in giving orders and carying out duties than some spirits. The situation in this distant past was odd, however. A worthy KIng came almost out of thin air and asked for the position. He had never been seen before by the horses nor any of the spirits. Kain was the one who had to take orders from him back then. Sure, Kain had thought about killing the damn beast because of his additude towards him, but didn't because Hallow would mount his head on his bedroom wall if he did.
Kain shook himself from his thoughts and stood, ready to go about his liesurely business outside of the temple. "Well, my friend..." Kain said clearing his throat slightly. "I'll keep an eye out for a King. I'll let you know if I see anything worth looking into." Kain corrected himself quickly with, "If no one shows up within the next few days, of course." Kain nodded respectfully to his friend and turned to the door. He had better things to do than chat with Hallow about Kings all week. There were horses to search for. Kain would try to keep himself from looking for a worthy King for the next few days but he may getso tired of waiting that he may just search anyway. It wasn't a big deal to him if Hallow said 'wait a few days'. Kain was too anxious.
